BenCab was inspired by the people in the Cordillera, as these lowland Filipinos were the people who despite over 300 years of Spanish colonization, did not succumb to Christianity. As a long-time resident of Baguio City, BenCab immersed himself in the life-rhythms of the Cordilleras, avidly collecting Cordillera art and artifacts.
